Ans. Yes, Jigme Namgyal was a loyal person. While he was at Punakha, he saved his master Trongsa Poenlop Tshokey Dorji’s from the assassination in 1849.

3. Who was the Trongsa Poenlop when Jigme Namgyal reached Trongsa? (1)

Ans. Ugyen Phuntsho was the Trongsa Poenlop when he reached at Trongsa.

4. Write the Cause, Events and Results of the Battle of Limithang.  (3)

Ans.

Causes	Events	Results
The Four Dzongpoens of the eastern Bhutan revolted against Trongsa Poenlop.	Jigme Namgyal led the armies from Bumthang, Trongsa and Zhemgang and marched towards Zhionggar and fought a battle against the rebellion armies in 1850.	Jigme Namgyal defeated the rebellion armies and once again reunified Sharchog Khorlo Tshibgyed under Trongsa Poenlop.

5. How did Jigme Namgyal make the Trongsa Poenlop’s post the most powerful? (3) 

Ans. Jigme Namgyal made the Trongsa Poenlop post most powerful through the following events:

i. In 1851, during a civil strife caused by Chagpa Sangay, Jigme Namgyal and his brothers defeated strongman (Nyagoe) Migthoe at Pumakha and gained the fame of bringing an end to Migthoe.

ii. In 1854, Jigme Namgyal solved the civil strife between Druk Desi Damchoe and Jamyang Tenzin gaining the power to appoint the Dzongpoens in the eastern Bhutan and keep the portion of revenue collected from the duars.

iii. In 1850, JIgme Namgyal defeated the armies of the four rebellion Dzongpoens and reunited Sharchog Khorlo Tshibgyed, etc.
