The Decline of ancient Mesopotamian civilization

 

1. Natural calamities

Natural calamities such as dust storm have had devastating aftereffect on the settlement making the people to abandon the cities.

2. Climate change and agricultural failure.

Climate change caused the inability to grow crops. People could not sustain their livelihood with unpredictable climatic conditions in the region.

3. Famine

Frequent failures to cultivate the crops led to shortage of food supplies. Famine became widespread and bringing an end to the civilization.

4. Invasion by the Persians.

Consequent invasion by Romans and Arab Muslims on Mesopotamian led to the decline of the civilisation.
