Executive Branch (Lhengye Zhungtshog)

 

Central Administration

The Roles and Responsibilities of the Executive branch in Bhutan is vested in the Lhengye Zhungtshog. They are the implementing body, to implement the laws formulated by the Legislative body.

***Members of the Lhengye Zhungtshog:

  • Prime Minister:-

-S/he is the Head of the Government.
- select and appoint ministers and gives them portfolios.
-recommends the dismissal of ministers who does not comply with their responsibilities.
-communicates with the Druk Gyalpo on all decisions made by the cabinet relating to the administration and proposals for legislation.
-S/he is the Chief Spokesperson of the government in the Parliament.
-represents Bhutan in relation with the other nations of the world.

1. Ministry of Home and Culture Affairs (MoHCA)- Lyonpo Ugyen Dorji
2. Ministry of Education (MoE)- Lyonpo  Jai Bir Rai
3. Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MoAF)- Lyonpo Yeshey Penjor
4. Ministry of Finance (MoF)- Lyonpo Namgay Tshering
5. Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA)- Lyonpo Dr. Tandin Dorji
6. Ministry of Health (MoH)- Lyonpo Dechen Wangmo
7. Ministry of Information and Communication (MoIC)- Lyonpo Karma Donnen Wangdi
8. Ministry of Labour and Human Resources (MoLHR)- Lyonpo Karma Dorji
9. Ministry of Economic Affairs (MoEA)- Lyonpo Loknath Sharma
10. Ministry of Works and Human Settlements- Lyonpo Dorji Tshering.
